my personal opinion:
there needs to be safer events for guys going out to learn to drift. your right, we have few venues, but if the only ones are ovals, and we keep going, then we're technically supporting the wrong thing.
If we create an event, and tell people its a drift event, they will come. If we say its an advanced skill event, and only let 10 or so skilled drivers in, then thats different.
There is little forgiveness for mistakes on an oval. Pave the infield, or just move the events to a track or parking lot. People wonder why attendance #'s are down, because each event a car or two gets totalled. That is NOT how drifting is supposed to be. Thats not a penalty, or a price you pay, thats a poor choice of venue, and poor screening of drivers prior to letting them onto the track.
So, I ask the event creators, to please, get us off the ovals, find us some parking lots, find us some normal tracks, skidpads, etc, and stop pushing the oval nonsense. Im tired of seeing cars come back wrecked. To say anything less is ignorant.
The scene will support any drift event, thats why kids risk totalling their cars at unsafe venues, because frankly, where else can they go. Find some other alternatives please.
