Doubt the 420a now. To top it off, most of the 4g63t owners around here aren't putting 12's down. There at 13-14's. Just a few are 12 and below. I don't want to hear well with all these mods I should be in the 12's or below easily, run at the track post your times and I'll believe you. All the money you spend fixing a 4g63t on its unreliability will equal out to what we spend on a built turbo 420a which still runs with no worries. Most of you rebuild your motors, seems like the prices of aftermarket turbo pistons/rods for the 4g63t and 420a are about the same price
. Also take the price of a RS/GS and the price of a GST/GSX/TSI. The RS/GS cost less, so pretty much we spend our money... you spend money on a turbo 2g which cost more (unless someone is selling it for cheap but still has problems). You mod it, we built our and turbo it... I think it would equal about the same on how much money in general was spent with the car and mods included.
One: You've owned a 420a for all of two weeks and you're defending it like the indigent defend this country.
Two: Dave's GSX runs 13s because Dave is f*cking up somewhere. There are numerous 1g AWDs that run 12s with less mods than Dave has. Dave runs 13s, not his car.
Three: Your single example of a 12 second 2g 420a-t is just that - a single example. Anecdotal evidence doesn't make your case, especially when the evidence is ONE car and most board members ought to know that there have been hundreds of Florida 4g63 DSMs running 12s (although, I don't know most of the board members here).
Four: You cannot compare build costs of a 4g63 1g or 2g and a 420a powered 2g. There is no contest. I feel no need to defend this claim because it ought to be evident to every board member (again, see the above parenthetical note).
Finally: After reading through this thread it seems as if you are either racist or you post thoughtlessly. The other nonsense doesn't concern me because I have no interest in those fools. I'm suprised by you, though.
