My Experience with Blue Oval Corral.
*Mods, please do not delete this, it is not shop bashing, it's a first hand experience with a shop and I'm trying to help out my fellow TR members with my experience"
Well to start it all off, my transmission has always grinded into second gear, one day while I was close to blue oval, it finally decided to get stuck in second gear.
I dropped it off that night (it was a block away), and I call Chad at Blue Oval the next day. He tells me that it is going to be about a 600 to 1000 job. I pay the labor upfront, and then if the tranny guy's quote is too much, then I just pay the labor to put it back in. Fair enough.
Next day, Chad calls me and tells me my total is going to be $840.00. I was happy because that was a fair estimate he gave me. I told him to go ahead and do it, and everything was going according to plan.
I get a call within the week from Chad, telling me it's all ready to go! At this point I'm very happy with the service and go over ASAP to pick it up. When I get there, I go and take it for a drive.
First, Second, Third, Fifth, and Reverse gears are PERFECT, However, every single time it would grind into Fourth! Never had any sign of this problem before. Still calm, I go into Chad and tell him what's up. He calls the transmission guy right there and his exact words were "Shit, I have no idea what's wrong. The whole tranny looked perfect, except the shift fork I replaced. Chad appoligizes, and writes on my recept to "Drive it for a few days, and if it dosn't get better, it will be fixed under warentee" This is where it all goes down hill.
(Also, I noticed my engine knocks on my frame every time I start it up, something that's never happened before. I go into chad and he says i "Need motormounts, but I'll get them to you for cost, and give you a great deal on the labor when you come back to get the tranny done."
So far, i'm happy, i mean i've paid the full amount, and the car has 2 new problems, but I'm not getting screwed over by the guys so it's cool.
Fast forward a week. I call to bring my car in, but i keep getting "we're really busy, call at the end of the week" this keeps going on, untill finally two weeks ago I said this is redicilous and brought it in. (Also, the great deal on the motormounts was COST for the part, and $150 for the labor. What a steal. lol)
I find out that Chad dosnt work there anymore, but now Jeff is the guy I'm dealing with.
I brought it in on a monday, and it "might" be done by the end of the week...
Friday Comes. "Is my car ready" "No, call on Monday week says Jeff"
Monday Comes. "No call tomorrow it will be done"
Tuesday Comes. "No, it will be done tomorrow, I PROMACE".
(This is where I set up a ride to go and get it, because I live an hour away from this place)
Wednesday: Nope, still not ready. WTF. so I still don't have my car, but I guess thats how a lot of shops are, fake promaces.
Thursday: I get a call from Jeff! Sweet, my car is done. Oh wait, he informs me that they are charging me $240 for the parts. How nice of them, when it clearly states that it is going to be covered under warentee, they take in my car, keep it A WEEK LONGER THAN THEY SAID, do ALL the work, NEVER mentioned ANY TYPE OF MONEY, and then stick me with an additional $240 bill. I'm outraged, but at this point i guess theirs not much i can do.
So today, Friday: I go to pick it up. Go to take it for a drive. They lost my SHIFTKNOB, my discontinued front lip is MAJORLY Scraped up, and my interior is FILTHY! I now have to wait in the shop who is stealing my money to get me a shift knob. I wait an hour in the shop for the shift knob.
That is the end of my rant. Once again I remind the mods, this is NOT shop bashing. It is an actual experience I've had with a shop, and I am looking out for my fellow Ford lovers.
Now I know their are going to be friends of the guys at the shop defending them, but this is a REAL experience I had. A brand new customer, and I feel like I was comepletly taken advantage of. So guys, please, think twice before going to this shop!
