Also, at that price, youre probably looking into a carbed bike, if that is the case do consider that you may need to have the carbs rebuilt before you start riding it around daily.
For 5k you better be able to find some shit that isn't carbed or you're getting ripped a new one all the way to the bank. (used of course)
Most of the manufacturers have great financing plans. If you have great credit you should be able to walk down there with the money you have saved up and wave it front of their face and make them do as you please.
I'm a "I want it now" type of dude and would go get the financing but that is ultimately your call like ^ said. Take the MSF course BEFORE you go get the bike that way that expense is outta the way. You could probably start buying gear a piece at a time so that it doesn't seem to hit you so hard financially.
