The crank is strong, but could benefit from a balancing. While the motor is apart definatly have the transmition undercut. I had mine done at R&D in Pinellas. With the R1 having 3 intake valves per cyl. porting will get you the biggest gains. I gained 14hp alone, by just porting and polishing with a high compression head gasket. If you can get you hands on at set of R7 valves have them cut it. 1mm bigger but still lighter then stock. GMS also makes a great intake cam. Makes the best power at 112deg. Leave the exhaust cam stock but adjust to 110deg. GMS recommends getting Valve springs which they sell as well. Other then that, clean up the inside of the cases. Outside of the motor, get a QB Carbon ram air box, BMC air filter, and a good exhaust. I wouldnt recommend getting flat slides carbs. I rode an R1 with them and it just makes the ride so unrefined with little gains.
If you need anything else let me know.
thanks man, I'll pass it on. Tried to get him to log on here, hopefully he will. He is in Deltona (near Orlando). He wants to do as much work as possible himself. I steered him towards a few companies to do the "machining" portion. R&D is the shit when iut comes to trannied, have a procut ttranny by them in my dragbike. Thanks again DB and probably will holler again at ya as he starts working on it.
