Didn't feel like reviving an old thread such as:
https://www.tamparacing.com/forums/h...ht=toda+timing
But yes ... I did do some searching. I still need some clarifications from anyone out there running Spec B's.
I am having lots of trouble with the timing belt. From what I'm reading in previous threads, I'll need to upgrade to the TODA timing belt. I saw on their site it said to use their belt ... but figured it was marketing plow.
Here is the setup:
Toda Spec B cams
Toda valve springs
KMS titanium retainers
b16 head - ported/polish/3 angle valve job, milled 30/1000th's.
Here is the problem. When I put the belt over the gears and start to turn crank to get tension, the intake cam will start skipping teeth. It's almost as if the valve springs are so stiff that the cam does not move and I just end up pulling the belt over the top. Is this true? I cant imagine a brand new kevlar reinforced OEM replacement timing belt stretching but it almost seems as if that is the case. Can anyone shed some light on my dilemma? Thanks a lot.
