14's are not fast, but I do believe that anything under 15sec at least deserves moderately quick. I dont believe that a 14 second car deserves to be called slow. Not everybody builds their car to be a drag king, some of us enjoy turning.

My girlfriend has a turbo beetle and in this guys defense it makes as much sense to mod a beetle as it does to mod a jetta, GTI, or other FWD 1.8T equipped car. They take well to mods, and can be made pretty quick. Now back to the gayness topic....There must be more than ego tripping here. I have driven her car a few times and it makes me feel really gay. I feel like a care bear driving around in a bubble.

The best thing to do is keep it looking stock on the outside, but mod it to make it a little faster. You have less of a chance getting made fun of if it looks stock on the outside.

Quit your bitching about people giving you a hard time for driving a beetle. The moment you modify any car you give up the right to bitch. It would suck if people made fun of a stock car that was given to you, but you have decided to mod it. I drive an SVT contour and have to deal with the occasional jackass who thinks I just modified a regular contour, but I just deal with it. I have had fun modding my car, it handles really well, and I have reached my goal of approx. 300fwhp. Be happy with your car and modify it intelligently (a guaranteed way to avoid becoming rice). getting all hot and bothered cause you modded a beetle only makes you look more gay. If people giving you a hard time bothers you, then you should sell the beetle and buy a skyrine......everybody loves skyrines!
