Merkurs are sweet cars there's just too many "weird" parts on them for my taste. The cars are too old and too poorly supported in the aftermarket (and what is available is expensive) for me to have one. Interior and body parts are tough to come by. The electrical parts (not related to Engine) are tough to find. Plus the driveline isn't very strong. If you're looking for a casual street car they could be fun but if you really want to put some horsepower in it they get expensive
Right after I started my mustang swap, there was a VERY nice one for sale in Miami. The paint was great, interior was great, it ran and drove fine, he only thing wrong was somebody had tried to break into the car by busting out the back quarter window. But the kid that owned it was moving into an apartment and couldn't park it anywhere. He was begging people to take it and finally was down to $500. I ALMOST got it but figured my wife would kill me for bringing another car home.
