I ran 26x10 ET Drags on my '90 coupe on 15x8" rims with hardly any problem. I just rolled the lip of one fender (very slightly)
Later I went to 28x10.5 ET Drags on the same car with 15x10s and the same backspacing you are talking about. With aftermarket control arms, quad shocks removed, a nice sized hammer to beat in the inner side of the wheel housing and a little more rolling of the fenders (although, still not noticeable without feeling or kneeling down to actually look at the fenders) I guess you could say they do fit.
Not sure how tall of a tire you are thinking about, just keep in mind the highth of the tire will alter the stance/launching characteristics of the car.
