Well here's something to consider as well (and also backs up my statement that the Japanese have no idea what's going on over here).... It's obvious that the Japanese weren't afraid to spend some engineering dollars on the US version because we're the only market (not even Canada) that got auto seatbelts. Thanks Nissan of Japan.
