Nitrous is illegal to use on the streets, and i believe it is illegal to have in the passenger cabin. As far as the Ecotec comment...it is an inline 4. Being FWD has nothing to do with the formation of the cylinders. I may be wrong on this, but I would say that 99% of all 4 cylinder engines are inline 4's. I'm not sure if there has ever been a v4.

Edit: Ford used v4's in the past, but I don't think any cars today use that layout.
