In therory.... typical TREs trick the bike's computer into thinking it is in 5th gear all the time... which does not have the timing retarded.

The up-side is:
Smoother idle
Better low end power
Potential higher top-speed

The down-side is:
You lose the functionality of the gear indicator

There is what is known as an "Intelligent TRE" (not a Smart TRE) that can be programmed with much more flexibilty and does not have an adverse effect on the gear indicator.

The GSXR is fast, real fast... be careful... unlike the Busa, the GSXR is not real stable up top.

The digital speedo stops at 186mph... the tach however continues to climb
