I was owned by an SE-R at a rally cross last year. The interior was gutted and my Focus was stock with full interior.

The hot race set-up with VW's is a small front bar or no bar at all and a larger than normal bar is the rear. This causes more oversteer and better car rotation.

I've never used R1's, but do use Hoosier road race tires on my 77 Scirocco. Once they get hot, they stick Race Tires make a hugh difference.
