I am the owner of the Tacoma posted here and I always enjoy hearing feedback, negative or positive, about the cars/trucks I build. However, it is not very often that I hear negative comments about the Tacoma. I realize that each person is different and has their own opinions when it comes to what a car should look like.
First, lets address the tires. The tires that are currently on the truck are Mickey Thompson Sportsman Pros which is basically a race tire with tread and have the same soft compound as M/T ET Streets. How many of you have ever owned or driven a small truck with over 600 rwhp? Even with the boost backed down to around 16 psi (around 450 rwhp), the Tacoma will roast the tires from a roll at anything below 70 mph. These are the largest tires that will fit under the fenders but still aren't adequate for street or drag racing. The one time I raced it at the strip (1/8 mile) with these tires, even with a lengthy burnout, it still spun the tires the full length of the track. I plan on racing a lot next year and will be running Goodyear slicks which should solve any wheelspin issues.

You do realize that the 2JZ engines are capable of over 1500 hp and over 1000 hp on the stock long block?

Sorry, but that would be incorrect. Toyota never put a 1JZ in a Tacoma.

I think you meant to say too much weight.

I'm not sure either. BTW, nice looking launch on the Buick

Trust me, a drag radial wouldn't help at all.

Your assumptions would be correct
