I have not seen many Mazda owners that do not support other Mazdas in the family as opposed to going outside of the family. My husband and I have the opportunity to own 2 sports cars. We do not want 3 cars right now, but do need to have room to evacuate our cars and dogs in an emergency. My choice was either a G35 or a RX-8. I chose the RX-8 because I am a petite gal that felt the RX-8 was the right size for me. I also drove the MS Miata and felt that I had more response with the RX-8 and it satisfied my desire for torque vs. excitement at a high speeds, which the 8 compensates as much as the MX-5.

So the question is poopy pants, why would so many people without children buy such a piece of cabbage? That's okay, I understand the obsessive crazed behavior that comes with owning a Mazda of any kind, and I suppose I am there too. My RX-8 meets my needs and has plenty of room to add mods where I see a room for improvement. You can just call me crazy, I don't give a RA.
