the 8 was designed for the "mom/dad" who wants to beable to drop their kids off at school yet still be able to fly through turns and rev a motor out. They opted for that market because those people can actually afford them. Sure, they could have made it 2 seats, 2doors and weigh 400lbs less but then that wouldn't appeal to the people that actually have the money. By doing this they shunned it totally, when the 8 starts getting old, people will forget about it.. Plus the motor is pretty much done as porting is concerned. 230ish flywhp is nothing for a non-turbo rotary to argue with anyway, with a turbo-kit the 8 could be pretty fast I imagine.
On the same note as Rotary7, old school cars are the way to go. If you really think about it as much as a new 8 costs ($30,000?) an FC can be BRAND NEW with a 450hp, widebody kit, and some nice wheels for the same price, that goes for any car really.. You just really have to like the 8's body style to like it I guess, and YES I have driven one before, too quiet, not enough power but still handles like a dream.
