you also need to see if your headlight switch is hooked inline with the lights or if the switch feeds a relay. If the headlight switch feeds a relay then you shouldn't have a problem, if the switch is inline with the lights you could burn out the switch. To be safe I'd use a relay and run a slightly larger gauge wire from your battery or fuse block to the lights for power. since the larger gauge is kept entirely under the hood it's an easy install, and the factory wiring is already run through the firewall so that's not a problem either.
