if the head gasket was popped to the outside of the engine, yes. but if it was the section between a coolant port and a cylinder it would just end up burning out through the exhaust in the form of white smoke.

definately jack it up again and pull the bleeder screw and see if you can get any more bubbles to come out. nothing against sean, im sure he does good work, its just KA's are horrible when trying to refill the cooling system...though i've never had a problem even when im fully drained.

i just turn the heater on, let the car idle, fill up the radiator til its full, leave the cap off for a few min, have the overflow tank filled. drive around 20 min. let it cool off, few hours later check the radiator, then check again the day after and then usually good to go.

also make sure the plug that goes on the little shitty single prong connector for the stock dummy gauge is on right. i had mine on upside down a long time ago, and it made my needle bounce around and rise up and since the connector plug wasnt making good contact.
