That would depend on the purpose, right? I shift between 2k and 3k at 20% - 30% throttle because that's the way traffic flows. Otherwise, I'd be bouncing between right up on somebody's ass and 10 car lengths behind (I can't very well drive in boost behind a car accelerating slower than me...)
In any event, when traffic's clear, I can have some fun with it. I catch stretches here and there where i punch it for kicks, but otherwise, I'm just happy to know that I have the potential to pull on cars. I'm not worried about gas mileage (not consciously while driving), but rather I just drive like a little b*tch. The "purpose" for my "7.8:1 turbo car" (or "modified sports car") is:
-to satisfy my yearning to build a complete, clean, slightly modded DSM
-to satisfy my desire for a hobby that doesn't require me being conscious (this is in reference to wrenching...mostly)
-----this could be satisfied without a sports car (or turbo car), but these cars provide the most entertainment immediately after installing a part
-to satisfy my desire for a quick street car (a charactersitic that I choose to utilize when I'm in the mood to do so), and a car I can continue to build (slowly) to satisfy the aforementioned "purposes"
Plus, as previously stated, I just drive like a little b*tch (I don't like to hear my car whine). If my car had a liftime warranty, I might consider driving WOT and shifting at 8k all day.
Hey Jay (this is Jay, right?), disconnect the wastegate actuator from the wastegate arm, and let him shift whenever...
