well me and my friend pull up ionto my driveway and his amp turns off due to a stuborn ground that we didnt take the time to get a good firm connection. so i say fuck it man lets do it right. i get a great connection and go to test it it doesnt work so we check the infile fuse block near the battery and its blown we replace it and the fuse in the amp itself and we go to test it this time and i hear "crack, pop".... and then "sizzlleee....." and smoke. it came right in the amp where you hook up the power wire. so im thinking maybe it can be repaired.....

(hopefully) can anybody fix it?? or should i take it to Auto Audio and see what they can do?
and he replaced the fuses before and im not sure what they where before he replaced them because i wasnt there but he said he put in a lower amperage fuse which i really didnt like its a 1000 watt amp is there anyway that you guys can tell me what amperage fuses should be used??

The crack was either the caps exploding or the Fets cracking open. either way that will not be pretty. The sizzle was the solder on the main board boiling. The smoke was the printed board coating burning away from the electronics they coat. Unless thats a JL 1000.1 its not worth repairing. It would be a good project amp but it will always give you problems if you melted the board.
