I had to extend a court date for my last traffic violation in Tampa. Can't speak for St. Pete, but they flat out won't let you do that shit anymore. Or at least I was told that, coulda been BS. Work wouldn't let me out and Hills county clerk told me I was basically SOL. I made sure I got there to have it thrown out as my driving record takes priority over work.

I recommend the lawyer route. If it were just 1 speeding ticket, you could have went the driving class route on your own without points, but for two, you're gonna need a lawyer. They can usually swing that and get you outta points. Trust me, the court costs will end up costing you less in a number of ways down the road than the points and insurance hike.
