Well I've only owned my WRX for a month or so but I did test drive quite a few vehicles before I bought including an evo. Being a Dad as well man I found both the STi and WRX 10x more comfortable for everyday situations compared to the EVO. The interior feels/looks alot better with a more quality feel to it than the EVO. The Evo is a sweet car but just wasn't suitable/comfortable to me for everyday duties.

I bought a WRX so I can't offer any insight into the power comparison of the EVO vs. STi but I'll say that w/ AWD, side impact airbags and four doors the WRX has been great to haul my boy around while still being able to get down when needed. I have no regrets whatsoever.
