738Ft. Lbs of torque from 1600RPMS to over 4400RPMS.
AMG had to de-tune the torque so the tranny MIGHT stand a chance of living through the warrenty. A chipped "65" makes around 880Ft LBS. of torque and the driveshaft becomes the "short term" weak link.
The Timing is retarded during shifting, which drops torque upto 60% until the next gear in engauged, then it adds the timing back; All that happens in micro seconds.
With Slicks the SL65 is 10sec capable BONE STOCK. Without slicks, they are between 11.8 and 12.4...
I've drived the "weaker" 5.5L supercharged CL55. It only has 490hp and 516FT. LBS. of torque and only runs 12.60s on stock tires... Its was a F--king rocket !!! Seen the brakes on these things !!!!??
The CL/SL65 is deffinately the baddest lux/sports/rocket cars money can buy, but since the 65 are $180K and the "cheaper" CL55 is ONLY $130K, you can pretty much bet that street racing one is a rare deal...
The AMG new SLK "ant no joke" either, even the standard SLKs are pretty fast...
