Retail prices are marked up from private party sale values.. Retail price is not accurate for a private sale. Retail prices include the private sale value, then additional fees added onto it. Private party is what should be expected when buying a car from another individual.. Retail is what should be expected when buying from a dealer, who has fees to pay.
