I've been working on the math approach to wheel/tire fitment for a while, but have yet to consolidate it. It's based the wheel/tire you have now, and where you want it to be. It'll be handy for people who can't find pics/specs of the exact setup they want.
One of the most important specs that I see overlooked is camber. On a 24" tall tire (my 225/50/16 should be 24.8, but measures 24.0), every 1* of camber moves the top of the tire in by 7mm. So, for someone that runs a X wheel/tire combo with 2* and says it's flush, If you like running 3.5* of camber, you'll need a 10mm spacer to bring it to the same level. That, of course, assumes that you gauge flushness by the clearance at the top of the fender.
