New F/S Rules: NO POSTING UNTIL YOU READ
As part of the changes we're making in the moderation of this forum, Ian and I have agreed on a few basic rules to keep the clutter down and make it easier for everybody to use this forum effectively.
* No TTT posts. Only reply to threads with useful information like price updates, updates to reflect items sold, or general information of use to everybody like "I'll be out at Sonic's this Saturday with the parts if anybody wants to check them out" or responses to questions about the part that would help everybody. Messages between two people arranging a time and place to meet or bargaining should be kept to PMs.
* No off-topic posts. The only discussion allowed is discussion of the parts for sale and information relevant to the sale. Coming in to post "This car is hot!!1!" three days after the last post is considered a thinly veiled form of TTT- just don't do it.
* Post an asking price for everything you're selling. If you don't know what to list it for, search the FS forums here and other classifieds like those on dsmtuners.com and tampabay.dsm.org to get an idea of a fair price. Pretty much anything you could want to sell has been listed and sold in the past. Even if you just guess at it, an asking price gives interested parties a general idea of what you want for the part and is a starting point for bargaining through PMs.
* No bargaining in threads. Do it through PMs. The only person who should post anything about the price of an item in a thread is the thread starter when they first list the item and when they update the price of an item. If you think an item is priced too high to sell- PM the person and let them know in a friendly, purely informative way.
* No habitual low-balling. If we find out that you've been PMing people offering 500 dollars for a 99 GSX, 100 dollars for an FP3065 and 20 bucks and a pack of bubblelicious for a built 2.3 longblock we will send you a warning then let the admins know about it. This is one of the most common complaints I've heard about selling on TR, so we take it seriously.
* Do not post links to other For Sale threads. Copy and paste the description of the parts into the text of your thread here. Links to auction sites like e-bay are allowed if you post a basic description of what you are selling along with the link.
* Do not post universal parts unless you are a Subaru Tech regular. Parts like turbo timers, boost gauges, and other generic parts not specific to Subaru cars belong in Misc Automotive For Sale. These threads will be moved without a redirect to minimize clutter in this forum- look for them in Misc Automotive For Sale. We will make an exception for Subaru Tech regulars- which includes those who have contributed to the forum over time and all Mitsubishi car owners.
* Do not hijack other people's threads. Do not jump in someone else's want ad and post that you also need the same things. If you need something, start your own thread.
If everybody follows the guidelines above, it should be a lot easier to find parts for sale and information on them, which benefits all the users of this forum.
