Well yes and no. Your correct on how it converts it, but why do you think it tells you to hook it on the ECM side of ANY plugs ? A plug is huge resistance. The Autometer gauge needs the closest to the ECM signal it can get. the ECM can adjust for the wire length "impedence" it knows how to adjust for the loads. The Autometer gauges doesnt. Without getting WAY into it. The closer to the ECM the better.
