No, actually, in order to still keep some leg room the woofer is aiming at the passenger (if it were facing down you'd be losing over 8" leg room), this configuration you only lose about 5" of leg room. The entire face of the sub is covered however, therefore all you see when looking at the location is a panel carpeted to match your factory carpeting. We do this box in alot of Porsche coupes & convertibles and BMW convertibles. It provides clean bass and good imaging and another advantage is the 8" woofer requires much less power which means not only a cheaper, but also smaller amplifier which can also be more easily concealed.
