I'm unsure about the pricing, but it shouldn't take me more than a day to get it absolutely to my anal retentive standards. It's pretty labor intensive, but we have all of the stuff here to make it bling.
What I usually do is take the cover and chemically strip it, then use multiple grits of sandpaper to get the finish down to where it is absolutely smooth. Then, I use 3 different compounds (start out course, end up fine) on the polishing wheel and step to the hand polisher for the tough to get areas. After that, it is on to hand polishing. All in all, I would expect around 5-6 hours to get it to where I would be proud to put it on my car.
**EDIT** I usually knock off the casting flashes on the covers as well, it makes a nice difference. If you're in the area, you can stop by the shop and take a look at some of the s14 KA valve covers I've painted up to get an idea of the quality level of my work. We're on off of 66th street and 123rd in Largo.
