Better safe than sorry, I do a leak down test, and a compression test WEEKLY, I also check my timing every other week. Once you put so much money into your setup, you want to make sure that there are NO suprises and that your investment is up to par. I used to have the nice snap-on leak down tester, untill I let a friend borrow it, and NEVER got it back. The way I have been doing it seems to work pretty well so far, but Im sure if I am leaking at the HG the correct tool would give me a better result.. Best of luck..
