i see what he is saying but here is the confusion
if your SPEED is LOW enough for the front tires to actually fully grip, you will end the slide and turn the opposite way of the road way
if your SPEED is JUST RIGHT the steering will fine tune the line
if your SPEED is TOO HIGH no steering angle will help scrub speed while maintaining an angle, but this is a very quick srubbing, too long and youll grip(no throttle), to long with throttle you would spin
countersteering ALLOWs the car to rotate about the front tires by using the throttle/brakes/clutch
it also allows you to control with the 'half grip' you experience with the front end while sliding, if you didnt counter you could maintain slide action but with continued throttle you could spin but if the throttle is controlled properly you could maintain a slide, if let off throttle, youll slide to a 'parallel park' and then roll forward once grip sets in.
it is a useful tool i believe to slide without steering angle but is usually only used when correcting a line mistake or used with strict weight transfer technique. from my exp.
