So today I went a test drove a car, fired up, sounded nice, engine sounded smooth. Pulled the oil cap and the valve train wasnt ticking or anything. Lastly, when I parked it the idle went way up, like 2,000 plus, and then I gave it a little gas and it came back down, then started jumping back up and falling, untill eventually staying at like 2500 rpms. this is a 4dr civic lx with 126,000 miles on it. Is this stuff going to be a pain down the line?
IMO, as far as the car ideling high,the car will do this when cold (cold start injector kicks in)......when it warms up idle goes back to the norm.as far as the jerking is it an auto or 5spd? and the up and down idle could be due to a bad tps sensor or the car maybe runnin a little hot. as far as it being something serious.....those are just minor things to worry about.......HTH
