Logically, +40 milimeters would reach outward about 1 1/2"; from the
center of the wheel's width. That would be a factor with outer tire/fender clearance.
You then adjust your coilovers, so the tires tuck into the fenders without touching fenders when you hit a bump. You can also have the inner lip rolled inward/up for slightly more tire clearance.
Everything is a compromise: wheel width vs lowering vs tire sidewall heighth, etc.........-Bob

yeah i know that civics are 4x100 and figured that the 4h meant 4 hole and 5h meant 5 hole, also figured that the 6.5 and 7.0 are the width of the wheel, but did not think of the offset which is +40. So these sizes are standard ok sizes for a civic? offset is how flush or far out the wheel would sit? how would a +40 offset sit on a civic? a '91. thanks for your input.
