i am driving home , down fletcher from malibu gran prix, where i had loads of fun with some of the VW guys. . .. and i pull up to BBD and next to me pulls a brand new red 1.8T GTI. he's obviously proud of his new car. it looks very nice. He actually revs on me, and matt, in the passenger seat, tells me that he's challenging me. Me? i think? no one EVER revs on the near-stock looking accord. i take note of the cars in front of us, but once the light turns green, the GTI and I work through the crowd and by 50th street we have a chance to get next to each other and slow down a bit. he's a little in front of me, by about a door, and i let him take the jump. I enjoy two thousand rpm of bliss in second, and jam it in third, by which time i have already put him at my rear bumper. third gear comes along and mark, in my backseat, gives him the thumbs-down as i lengthen my lead. . . . .
