Rider Down - DOA
TAMPA - A man died about midnight Friday when he crashed his motorcycle into a sign near 3845 Kennedy Blvd., just south of Dale Mabry Highway.
Police said they had been pursuing the man after his wife called to report he was trying to kill her. The man was identified as Curtis Lee George, 48, of Odessa.
Police spokesman Joe Durkin said police started the pursuit miles away, but cruisers stopped and only a police helicopter followed George. Durkin said it appears George, traveling west on Kennedy Boulevard, bumped a vehicle and lost control of the motorcycle.
Police said they found a 9 mm pistol and a bag containing ammunition in the wreckage. The 2005 Suzuki's speedometer was frozen on 134 mph, Durkin said.
Debris from the motorcycle and sign was strewn across the parking lot outside Joryn Jenkins & Associates law firm. The body of the motorcycle was mangled at the base of the sign; the handlebars and front wheel were 30 yards away, near a single white tennis shoe.

One of the consequences of such notions as "entitlements" is that people who have contributed nothing to society feel that society owes them something, apparently just for being nice enough to grace us with their presence.”
