I know they are dangerous...but the mom thinks that like if you have one you're automatically going to crash and die, and if you have any sort of crash, you're dead. I realize how easy it is to get injured....and shit I'm looking forward to doing a lot more in life than I already have...which is why I would want to get a damn good jacket and helmet to protect myself as much as possible. I was also thinking that since I'm going to be going to cllege soon a bike would be a great way to solve the parking problems that most people talk about.

when I was 18 I can guarantee I was the best then too, But I still waited to where I am at now. I am not one to boast about anything, But that is something that I take pride in.
You forgot to mention pants.
Jeans will slide and last for 8Ft.
competition leathers 1.9 thick last for roughly in track conditions 80ft of sliding.
I think one fellahs story that was just on here he went for 250 ft. I dont remember specs on what he was doing but that gives you something to think about.
Now I am not Completly steering you off considering you are finding out some of the facts and requirements for getting onto a bike. Most people will fight really badly for what they want but remember not to run before walking.
Are you financially prepared for a bike as well?
Helmet - 200-400
Jacket 300
Pants 120
Boots 80+
insurance 160+ a month.
Bike cost.
