I'd do a TMIC with a VF22 or any aftermarket turbo setup. As much as I like FMICs and as good as the other's points are, I like the least lag which will, in most cases, come from the TMIC. Additionally, another trade-off or running a TMIC is increased water/oil temperatures, because of the radiator blockage. Here is a linkto a guy on NASIOC who ran into increased temps and needed a supplemental oil cooler because of his APS DR725 in the Arizona heat.

If you're not set on only the VF22, Gruppe-S has a sweat deal on the VF34s w/ STi injectors and fuel pump for $1199 shipped; looks like they're trying to get rid of some stock The VF34 won't be as laggy as the VF22 obviously, however aren't rated as highly horsepower wise as the aforementioned VF22 - makes sense since the VF22 is bigger. They also have Helix TMICs for $599 which are a little bigger than the STi TMIC IIRC.

Heat soak being your main concern though, you can get a turbo heat wrap and exhaust wrap to keep that at 'bay.'

As others have said also, don't forget to factor what you feel suits your purposes in the long term though...

Hope all this nonsense helps...
