the d15 bottom ends have a better rod/stroke ratio and with a z6 or y8 vtec head the compression ratio will be slightly increased. this is what makes up for the difference in displacement.

for obd0 vehicles i'd go with a zc over a mini-me. the swap is easier and they have more potential because of their dohc design.
