I think using domestic cars is actually a good thing for the sport in the U.S. Doing things exactly like they do in Japan would be boring, it's good that we're making it our own by adding our home-brewed cars. If anything, adding domestic cars like the Mustang, GTO and Vipers helps attract different demographics to the sport and make it less looked down on by the rest of the country.
Good 'ol boys who would previously have zero interest in watching drift, all of a sudden see cars that they drive or would LIKE to drive and start watching it...going to the events, buying the products and thus allowing the sport to grow more and more. I was honestly hoping to see Corvettes and Camaros in Formula D by now, but we'll see what next year has to offer.
