external candidates - seems to be a trend around here lately to hire external instead of promoting from within..

I was a sales rep in Chicago for 3 years with this company, I have been in my current position for about 3.5 (it was a lateral move to get myself back to FL). For the last nearly 6 years my pay has increased about 15% in total. Basically I have received my 2.5% annual raise each year but nothing more. I have posted for 2 positions in the last 8 months that should have been LOCKS! And have been passed over for both. This most recent one was the perfect opportunity - I have all of the skills, the knowledge of our systems, the knowledge of our business. It's horseshit and time to look elsewhere. Yes we have excellent benefits, etc - but I'll be damned if I am going to sit here for another 3 years in the same position at the same grade level as when I joined.

They recruited me from a competitor for a reason, because I had skills that they wanted! Someone else will more than likely feel the same way.
