Well, Mitsubishi is "off to a great start" in their hopes of trying to regain some momentum in the US auto market (yeah right).
Mitsubishi Motors Corp. LOST $4.41 Billion in its fiscal year that ended March 31, 2005.
To top it off, the new '06 Eclipses already have a recall on them. The new Eclipses are already having braking problems, straight off the lot. It's a shame too, because Mitsubishi really needed a good debut with their highest selling car. This obviously, will not help with their already burdening problems.
What's worse, is the GT model is going for close to $30k. That can get you a brand new 350Z, which is a much better car in my opinion, not to mention it's RWD, versus the damn FWD configuration of the Eclipse. Historically speaking, a Nissan will give you a better resale value as well.
I don't know about you all, but I'd rather get a nice used Supra or rock a 350Z, over the new, heavy weighing, FWD slouching Eclipse. Hell, you could get an EVO RS for less. The Evos are just a bit to ugly to me though. (No offesne to you Evo owners)
"Wishing they would bring back a newly redesigned car, based off the 1G/2G AWD/turbo/4G63 setup." That'll never happen though, especially with the money they are hemmoraging and the shitty business practices Mitsubishi is performing.
