EGT's aren't really anything to worry about off boost. Unless you're WOT - don't even look at the gauge. 1k (F) really isn't high for off boost/part throttle. Remember you're car isn't spewing a lot of fuel at the lower rpm's, and im sure your tune isn't set to high rich down low, especially if your tuner wanted to give you any sort of fuel economy.
