I have one too, well, it may be an extended loan, but for all intents and purposes, I have one [for now]. Anywhoo, it is cool. Good information on it. However, I'm not so sure I'd go quite as far with what you said earlier.

I don't necessarily disagree, however, I must convey what may become a bulky regret down the road for several reasons.
1.) Gauges are for good real-time observations of 'wtf is going on.'
-EcuTek has to still load up and what not.
2.) Now you have a laptop in your car which is susceptible to a lot of stuff.
-Heat, theft, etc.
3.) The ergonomics may not be in your favor.
-The diagnostic port under the steering column gets in my way a tad, because it is about 5" long when connected to the serial connector, and again, thats the connector on the serial cable itself.
-Additionally, you'll probably need a JottoDesk, like what the Police cruisers have. That may or may not piss off your front passengers.
http://www.jottodesk.us/import_select_jotto_desk.htm
-This may also present a real-world driving hazard as your passenger-side airbags are now impaired.
Now, again, please don't think I'm flaming your idea/thread, however just pointing out some 'cons.'
For the pros, you can have it pretty made if you decide to run your DeltaDash all the time.
1.) It gives you the excuse to start up a pretty cool CarPuter project like this guy on NASIOC.
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...light=carputer
-Granted, its in an 04 OBS, but I figure it can't be too different.
2.) You can play DVDs for long trips if you don't already have that capability.
3.) Hands down EcuTek DeltaDash is friggen awesome!
...all IMHO of course
