Well, the problem I'm having with the car is that it knocks like crazy, but only at cruise throttle. A slight increase in the throttle, no knock. The computer is throwing a TPS and a lean fuel condition code. The car also has NO power at anything but minimal throttle. If I stomp it down, it actually accelerates slower, so I'm thinking the accelerator pump might be due for a refresh. The fuel filter looks like the stock one from 1987 and all of the gaskets were completely dry rotted. A rebuild can't hurt and I can spray the jets out with some carb cleaner if they're clogged.
I tell you, that olds 307 motor is a workhorse. I've read that plenty of people take 'em to 300k miles without any major problems. Once I clear up the knock I've got a car that's good for another 200k miles since the car is in the low 90k's right now.
