The accident investigator (seperate unit from the responding officer) would have easily been able to tell you were excessively exceeding the speed limit. Keep telling yourself he/she wouldn't. When a kid I know put his Cavalier into a TECO pole, everyone flew except myself and some friends. We stayed and watched the totalled car get pull out of the ditch and befriended the HCSD accident investigator. If I remember correctly, judging by the skid marks and carnage, the investigator said he was doing around 80ish. When Leon got out of the hospitol (airbag snapped his arm in half) we learned the cop wasn't too far from the truth. And yes, if you rearended him while speeding even though he cut you off, it's still your fault. Period. Call a the TPD non emergency line and ask.
