As far as the false neutrals go, I'd invest in a Factory Pro evo-7 shift star. This will eliminate false neutrals all together for you as well as make your shifting silky smooth. It's a mod you'll love. They retail for about $200, but it's money well spent. Especially if it saves you from having to rebuild your transmition.
what's the install like on the shift star (time/difficulty)? looks like a good mod.
