That would be true if it were like cars coming out of the corner at the same rpm to start with.
But if car A comes out of the corner and nails it at 5000 rpms and runs it up to 8200 before braking. And car B comes out of the corner at 4800 rpms (Different power band than car A) and runs it up to 8000rpms before braking. They have both maximized there power band and didnt have to let up or shift before a turn.
In short if you can produce a solid 3rpm power band you are doing good.
