What I meant by my drag racing v autocross comparison is that to me, autocross is a more "involved" form of driving. It involves chassis, suspension, brakes, engine. All must be balanced to succeed at autocross. Including the driver, as well. Likewise, an engine that must be kept in the upper RPM to obtain power is much more involved than a nice torquey V8.
I want to say right now, don't turn this thread into drag racing vs. whatever. Everyone likes what they like, has their own preferences and oppinions.
Dont kid yourself with drag racing. Suspension plays a vital part in your car just as much as it does in auto-xing. Slow cars drag racing, ti doesnt take a whole lot of anything. But once you get a very fast car, there is a lot involved.
I wish I had could rev my motor too 6500, but i dont even need it for auto-xing myself. Maybe when i step upto road coursing iw ill want it, but for autoxing I dont need it. Most events im in 2nd gear the entire time between 3000-4500 rpms. Only this past a event, I revved to redline and if there was nymore room I woulda had to shift to 3rd.
