I had a 2000 ZX2, which I guess is not much of an Escort but it does share the namesake with the rest of them. Out of the box it was not that quick but after installing a Weapon-R intake, Kamikaze header, 2.5" custom exhaust, solid transmission mounts, underdrive pullies, Gude "big bore" throttle body, and a DiabloSport chip I ended up running a best of 15.02 with a pretty lousy 60 foot.

I took a lot of shit for modifying an Escort but learn to differentiate the smack-talkers from the enthusiasts.

Anyone who even wastes their breath teasing you about your choice of vehicle is obviously insecure. So... do what you want to do.
