I'd like to share with you a story of sorts.... and it goes like this:
Last week I'm browsing ebay as I commonly do, and I came across a number of red 05 gsx-r600 parts. As many of you know my boyfriend Chris had his motorcycle stolen just before christmas, so I decided to look at this guys collection of auctions, previous and present. WELL, WELL, WELL! He happened to be seling an entire gsx-r 600 minus the frame and the fairings whch my boyfriend destroyed when he layed it down right before the theft. Can we say suspicious? Well at this point I just thought hmmm I wonder if it could be... But then Chris pointed out a scratch on the right fairing which we both knew by heart... DONE. We knew it was the bike.
So Chris then called the detective whom was on his case (and whom had been on mine when we thought mine was stolen) and we told him the situation. I wasn't sure if anything would come of it but the NEXT DAY we got a call saying that they tracked down the guys and that one was an ex cop! They asked us to come identify chris's items, which we did with joy. Unfortunately there were very few parts of his bike left, but his TEMP TAG was there. (These guys aren't too smart) And to make things even better there were several bikes, atvs and pocket bikes which will now be returned to their rightful owners. I'm so glad to see these piece of scums pay for what they were doing. The cops said we are screwed as far as getting any money from them but I don't buy that. These guys are living in an apartment comlpex I WISH I could live in. One with garages where I could keep my bike safe. I have to push my bike up a 2 x 4 every day into my 1bdrm apt bc of assholes like them, so don't tell me they're not going to pay. On top of that they payed their $50,000 bonds within 24hrs of their arrest, so they HAVE money. And they will be returning to Chris what is rightfully his.
I just thought I would let everyone know that at least one of the active "bike theft clans" are now out of business, and maybe it will set an example for any other bike theives in Tampa.... DON'T STEAL... I
WILL CATCH YOU!
